The coronavirus infection in China
Covid whistleblower released - has returned to Wuhan
Fang Bin, who documented the first covid outbreak in Wuhan, China, has been released from prison, according to information to the BBC.
One video that gained a lot of attention was when Bin filmed five body bags outside a Covid-19 hospital in the Chinese city in February 2020. Shortly after the video was published, a secret trial was said to have been held where Bin was sentenced to three years in prison for “starting a fight and provoking” .
Local activists tell the channel that they are happy that Bin has been released, but that they are worried about the journalists who are still in prison.

Activists in Wuhan worry about jailed journalist
At least seven independent journalists were arrested and sentenced to prison terms for reporting on what was going on in the Chinese city of Wuhan at the beginning of the covid pandemic, the BBC reports.
Journalist Fang Bin has reportedly been released recently, but activists in Wuhan worry about those still in prison. One of them is Zhang Zhan who went on a hunger strike when she was arrested.
The activist group Fria Zhang Zhan tells the BBC that hardly anything is known about how she is doing today. In December of last year, she is said to have sent a letter to her mother, but since then the signs of life have ceased.
