The US central bank, the Federal Reserve, raises the key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points.
The interest rate is now in the range of 5.00–5.25 percent.
- If you commit your mortgage now, you should commit in as short a time as possible, Ingela Gabrielsson, private economist at Nordea.
Another interest rate announcement came this evening from the US central bank, the Federal Reserve. The interest rate is raised by a further 0.25 percentage points.
Soon the head of the central bank is expected to announce whether this was the last increase, or whether further increases are expected.

With today's increase, the policy rate in the US is the highest since August 2007.
That's what Bloomberg writes.
The beginning of the end
Ingela Gabrielsson, private economist at Nordea, believes that there probably won't be many more increases now.
- You can sense that this is the beginning of the end of these increases in the US now, she says.
However, there will probably be another increase by the Riksbank in Sweden. In June.
Ingela Gabrielsson says that you should not be worried because of the increases. She says that a plateau will soon be reached where the interest rate will stay for a while.
- Then the goal is to be able to lower interest rates again.
- So you shouldn't be so worried. But it is good if you have control over your own finances.
