The royals coming to King Charles' coronation

On May 6, all the world's royalty and heads of state gather in London to see Charles crowned king.
2,000 people will be given a seat inside Westminster Abbey, but a couple of the youngest foreign royals will be able to follow the ceremony on television instead.
The king and crown princess come from Sweden.
According to royal tradition, you usually focus on the younger generation when inviting to a coronation. This is done in order not to take the focus away from the person who is now officially regent.
But in the case of King Charles, they have departed from tradition. Both the king and the crown princess come from Sweden - instead of Victoria and Daniel. - His Majesty the King has decided that it is the head of state and the heir to the throne who will represent Sweden at the coronation ceremony. The same decision was made at the Japanese accession ceremonies in 2019, when the king and crown princess were in Tokyo, says Ulrika Näsholm, at the court's information department.

Denmark sends the crown prince couple Mary and Frederik and Norway does the same and sends its heir to the throne couple Haakon and Mette-Marit. Japan is also sending its crown prince couple Akishino and Kiko. But there are more countries that go against tradition and send their monarchs. Prince Albert and Charlene come from Monaco. From Spain comes King Felipe and Queen Letizia and from the Netherlands King Willem Alexander and Queen Máxima. One of the reasons is that those countries' next generation of royalty is still a bit too young to represent in person without their parents.
Greece sends both Queen Anne-Marie and the prince couple Pavlos and Marie-Chantal. The Greek royal house is close to the British one, King Charles' father had Greek roots, e.g
Belgium sends its royal couple Philippe and Mathilde. Their daughter Princess Elisabeth is also in London, but will only attend the fancy reception at Buckingham Palace the day before the coronation. It is also the Dutch princess Catharina-Amalia, the goddaughter of Crown Princess Victoria.

They are not allowed to stand on the castle balcony
On Buckingham's balcony, the British royal family will end up with the newly crowned king. But that's only for working royalty. This means that Prince Harry, who will arrive in London without Meghan, will not be allowed to stand next to his father.
Prince Andrew is also being forced to step down after being stripped of his royal duties last year after being accused of rape. Prince Andrew's ex-wife Sara "Fergie" Ferguson is not invited to the coronation. However, the couple's daughters Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice are on the guest list.
King Charles has decided that the number of guests should be about 2000. When his mother Queen Elizabeth was crowned, large stands were built in Westminster Abbey so that 8000 guests could attend. But due to the economic crisis, such a large and expensive event would not have gone down well. In addition, King Charles has the ambition to modernize the coronation ceremony. Nowadays, only working royals are allowed to stand at Buckingham Palace. Prince Harry and Prince Andrew are not allowed to stand with King Charles at the coronation. Photo: Tim Ireland/AP
It must not come Many presidents and prime ministers are on the guest list. But only the first lady, Jill Biden, comes from the United States. One reason is that no sitting US president has ever attended a royal coronation and there is no desire to break that tradition.
President Emmanuel Macron and his wife will join Westminster Abbey. According to a press release, Macron believes that his "presence makes clear his friendship, respect and esteem for Great Britain and King Charles". There are several state leaders who do not receive a desirable invitation. Russian President Putin is not welcome and neither is North Korean President Kim Jong-un. We certainly won't see Belarusian leaders who are closely connected to Putin either.
From the Netherlands comes the royal couple Willem-Alexander and Máxima, from Norway Crown Prince Haakon and Mette-Marit. From Sweden comes the king and crown princess Victoria.
