Ukraine's former ÖB is singled out as the mastermind behind the sabotage of Nord Stream

Ukraine's former commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny is singled out as the mastermind behind the blowing up of the Nord Stream in an investigation by France Info. The French public service company writes that more and more evidence points to Ukraine and that suspicions against Zaluzhny have strengthened.

In June, a few months before the sabotage, a Dutch source with contacts in Kyiv is said to have alerted the CIA about impending sabotage on Nord Stream. Among other things, the source is said to have said that the divers in question took their orders from Zaluzjny.

Washington Post reporter Shane Harris says his intelligence sources indicate the same.

- According to them, it was not President Zelenskyi who approved or ordered this operation. But that doesn't mean it wasn't carried out by the military. It was an operation that was carried out without express instructions from the president, which allows him to deny that he played any role in it, Harris said.

Both Zaluzhny and Zelensky have always denied any involvement.

Experts: No other country has a clearer motive

Ukraine is the country in the world that had the greatest interest in sabotaging the Nord Stream gas pipeline. That is what Washington Post journalist Shane Harris and professor Thierry Bros say to the French public service company France Info.

- Russia had an extraordinary position with its gas pipelines, they flooded the European gas market and fixed the prices. Without the pipes, you no longer have the capacity to do that, says Bros, who is a geopolitical expert at the Sciences Po research institute in Paris.

France Info writes that the explosion may have been "a message" to the Europeans in general, and to the Germans in particular, that they must stop depending on Russian energy.

The review points to the involvement of Ukraine's former commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny, which Zaluzhny has repeatedly denied.
