Peru's president says Rolex raid was 'arbitrary'
Peruvian President Dina Boluarte calls the dawn raid by police on her residence on Saturday a "threat to democracy", local media reports.
- I respect the investigation. But I contradict the way it is implemented. It is discriminatory and against the constitution, she says in a speech to the nation.
She adds that she has been compliant despite the "arbitrary and offensive" raid on her home.
The raid was part of a corruption investigation against Boluarte, and the police searched for, among other things, about ten Rolex watches and a diamond bracelet from the brand Cartier.

Raid on Peru's president - police search for jewellery
A large police force has carried out a search of Peru's president Dina Boluarte's home in the capital Lima. A video shared by El Comercio shows the police slamming the door.
The president is suspected of having illegally enriched himself in what Peruvian media call the "Rolex case". At an event in New York recently, she wore a gold and diamond bracelet from the brand Cartier, which costs over half a million kroner. She also frequently wears a gold Rolex watch.
The police carry out the raid following a court order. This is to verify which jewelery is in the home. According to the newspaper Perú 21, the police have, among other things, received orders to seize watches, jewelry, documents and cars.
