Violent protests in Israel against Netanyahu's government
Protesters and Israeli police clashed in connection with a large anti-government demonstration in Tel Aviv, reports Haaretz.
The demonstrators demanded, as in several previous protests, that new elections be held and that concrete measures to release the Israelis that Hamas has taken hostage be introduced.
During the protests, people have, among other things, blocked roads and gathered outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem. The police responded with tear gas and water cannons, after which the protesters began lighting fires and blocking more roads. At least 16 people have been arrested.
