Robert Fico's first words: Back at the turn of the month
In a first statement after the assassination attempt, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico says he may be back in office at the end of the month, Reuters reports.
- If everything goes as planned, he says in a video published on Facebook.
He was hit by multiple gunshots on May 15 and has been receiving care since then. Fico says he holds no grudge against the perpetrator.
- I forgive him.
He also criticizes the opposition and the country's media, which he believes have allowed hatred and threats against him. Fico's critics believe, among other things, that he is pro-Russian.

Biden on site in France when D-Day turns 80 years old
US President Joe Biden is in France to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, several media reports.
Together with French President Emmanuel Macron, British King Charles III and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Biden will on Thursday honor the Allied soldiers who gave their lives on June 6, 1944. For King Charles III, the trip is the first since his cancer announcement.
Biden will also try to strengthen transatlantic ties with Europe during the visit, writes CNN.

Farage's milkshake joke after the attack - woman charged
British far-right politician Nigel Farage had a milkshake thrown at him as he began campaigning for next month's election on Tuesday. Now the police announce that a 25-year-old woman has been arrested and will be charged with assault, writes Sky News.
According to the channel's information, it was a banana milkshake from McDonalds that the Reform leader had thrown at him. After the attack, Farage published a video in which he has bought a similar milkshake.

UN report: The 1.5 degree target will probably be exceeded in 2028
There is an 80 percent risk that the 1.5 degree target for global temperature increase will be exceeded within the next four years. This is confirmed by the UN meteorological agency WMO in a new report, according to AP.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres likens humanity to the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs.
- When it comes to the climate, we are not the dinosaurs, we are the meteor. We are not only in danger, we are the danger, he says according to AFP.
In parallel with the UN's report, the EU's Copernicus also releases a report which states that since prehistoric times it has never been as warm as during the last twelve months.
