New sanctions against Belarus: "Harder to circumvent"
On Saturday, the EU adopted new sanctions against Belarus. The new sanctions are a response from the EU to the country's involvement in Russia's war against Ukraine, but further measures are required, says Foreign Minister Tobias Billström to TT.
The new sanctions package includes a tougher export ban on products that could contribute to Belarus' military or industrial capabilities, according to the news agency.
"The package means that the sanctions against Belarus are brought closer to the sanctions against Russia in several areas, which makes it more difficult to use Belarus to circumvent the sanctions against Russia," says Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M) in a comment to TT.
According to him, however, the EU needs to continue with new measures.
"In addition to introducing additional sanctions, it is important to close loopholes."

31-year-old Dmytro refuses to fight for Ukraine: "Can't kill"
31-year-old Dmytro has barely left his apartment in the city of Kharkiv for the past month in fear of being drafted into the Ukrainian army. Now he's tired of hiding and wants to leave the country.
- I am not made for war. I cannot kill people, even if they are Russians. I want to have a family and see the world. I am not ready to die, he tells The Guardian.
Dmytro is one of thousands of Ukrainian men who decided to flee the country to avoid fighting, even though it is forbidden. New mobilization measures have allowed the army to call up more people than before and punish those who flee more harshly.
