Morales: We're alive thanks to crouching in the car
There is no doubt that the shooting against Bolivia's ex-president Evo Morales was an attempt by the sitting government to assassinate him, Morales said according to Reuters.
Morales says that the incumbent president, fellow party member but now rival Luis Arce, is behind a plot to "destroy" him. He further says that the government's version of what happened consists of pure lies and that the people in the car he was traveling in were saved by crouching down.
- They shot at the wheels, at the tires, the car could not be driven forward.
Morales is accused of, among other things, rape and human trafficking, but believes that the accusations are an attempt to stop him from running in the next election.

Angry protesters have clashed with police
13 people have been injured in clashes between Bolivian police and supporters of former president Evo Morales in the city of Mairana, reports AFP. Twelve of them are said to be police officers.
A police chief told the news agency that the police were attacked by supporters who blocked roads for two weeks in order to prevent the arrest of Morales.
Morales, who claims the government tried to have him assassinated, is charged with several crimes. However, both the ex-president and his supporters believe that it is about "legal persecution" to prevent him from standing in the next election.
Morales is in a bitter battle with incumbent President Luis Arce, a former ally. The conflict escalated when Morales' car was fired upon last week.
