Donald Trump stepped off his plane wearing a reflective vest and into a waiting garbage truck as he arrived in the wave master state of Wisconsin.
- What do you think of my garbage truck? he told a large press gathering in Green Bay.
The move comes after a well-publicized comment from President Joe Biden yesterday.
"The only trash I see floating around is his supporters," Biden said in a video call with representatives of a group representing Latino voters.
The topic discussed was comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's well-regarded and criticized joke at Trump's rally in New York, where he called Puerto Rico "an island of trash." Biden later clarified that his comment was referring to the joke being "rubbish" and not Trump's supporters.
Since Hinchcliffe's joke, the Trump campaign has tried to distance itself from the comedian. In key Pennsylvania, where it is very even between the candidates, about half a million Puerto Ricans live.
Donald Trump, dressed for the day in an orange and neon yellow reflective vest, repeated in Wisconsin that he "knew nothing about the comedian."
- I love Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico loves me, he said.
When he took the stage a short time later for a rally in Green Bay, he was still wearing the reflective vest, over his white shirt and red tie.
