The Middle East crisis The Gaza war
Over 43,000 killed in Gaza

Over 43 000 people have now been killed in the Gaza war, according to the latest tally from the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Over half of them are women and children, AP writes.

During the last two days, 96 people have been killed after Israeli attacks in northern Gaza. Over the weekend, Israeli forces raided the Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahiya.

The WHO accused Israel of arresting 44 of the hospital's staff. According to Palestinian authorities, the hospital, where 200 patients were treated, was heavily damaged in the attacks.

Israel's parliament approves law banning UNRWA

Israel's parliament has voted through a law that prohibits the UN aid organization for Palestine refugees, UNRWA, from operating in the country in any way. This is reported by several media.

The organization's communications director, Juliette Touma, says the law, if implemented, spells disaster for people in Gaza.

- UNRWA is the largest humanitarian organization in Gaza. Who will do the work?

The law has been criticized by international aid organizations and by several of Israel's allied countries in the West.

The background to the vote is, among other things, Israel's accusations that Unrwa employees participated in the Hamas attack last year.
