The climate threat  The global challenges
Pollution behind half of the deaths in the heat of 2022

More than half of all heat-related deaths in Europe in the summer of 2022 were caused by pollution linked to greenhouse gas emissions, according to a new study by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, according to The Guardian.

56 percent of the 68,000 cases could have been avoided if it weren't for pollution from fossil fuels in the atmosphere that exacerbated the extreme heat.

Study author Thessa Beck says that many see climate change as a long-term challenge, but adds:

- Nevertheless, the results underline that it is already an urgent issue.

It was already known that the pollution worsened the heat waves, but not what effect it had on the death toll.

The election in the United States  The Republican campaign
Musk sees the election as an investment: "But if he loses, he's fired"

Elon Musk's support for Donald Trump is a business venture that the world's richest man hopes will lead to a rich return. This is written by the Washington Post, which has followed the billionaire's statements and appearances, as well as spoken to a number of experts.

The newspaper writes that Musk has repeatedly told investors openly what regulatory benefits his company can expect from Trump as president, as thanks for the hundreds of millions he invested in Trump's campaign.

At the same time, it also means that if Kamala Harris wins, they will be doubly skeptical of both Musk and his desires.

- He knows that if he loses this election, he is done, says a Trump adviser to the newspaper.
