Donald Trump recently proposed that the Gulf of Mexico be renamed the American Gulf.

Now the Mexican president is counterattacking and wants to change the names of parts of the United States.

– Maybe we should start calling it “Mexican America”?

At a press conference at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago palace on Tuesday, he proposed a name change for the gulf between the United States and South America: from “Gulf of Mexico” to “American Gulf”.

On Wednesday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum counterattacked. At a press conference, she showed a map from 1607, where part of today’s United States was Mexican.

– Maybe we should start calling it “Mexican America”? Sounds good, right? So let's call it that, she said, according to the newspaper El Pais.
