The most devastating fires in modern times are currently raging in Los Angeles.
Satellite images show how the fire is spreading.
Over 100,000 people have had to flee their homes in Los Angeles. In Pacific Palisades, an entire neighborhood has been practically destroyed by the flames.
The fire in Pacific Palisades is the worst in Los Angeles history according to CNN. It has grown to an area of over 63 square kilometers and destroyed over 1,000 buildings.
The fire increased tenfold in size in just 20 minutes.

The evacuation area has now grown to neighboring Santa Monica, Malibu and Calabasas. Over 100,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in Los Angeles and at least five have died, reports the LA Times.

The fire is raging in five areas on Thursday.
It started as two separate fires on Tuesday.
One in Pacific Palisades, located on the ocean between Santa Monica and Malibu, and one in Eaton in Altadena about two miles northeast of central Los Angeles. Later, new fires broke out in the Hollywood Hills (called “The Sunset fire”) and the two fires Hurst Fire and Lidia Fire north of Los Angeles.
Billions of dollars worth of property destroyed
According to the bank J.P. Morgan, the fire in LA has already devoured values worth up to SEK 110 billion.

The nightmare for many of the residents is that they will not receive compensation from insurance companies for their burned-down houses and cars.
The average price of a house in Pacific Palisades is almost 40 million kronor.
