NATO's future
Trump's demand for NATO: Pay five percent of GDP

NATO member states should raise the current two percent target and spend five percent of GDP on defense. He said this during Tuesday's press conference, according to AFP.

Europe pays only "a small fraction" of what the United States contributes to the military alliance, Trump says.

- We have something called an ocean between us, right? Why are we spending billions and billions of dollars more than Europe?

Already last month, sources told the Financial Times that Trump planned to make a five percent demand. One of them said that it should be seen as a negotiating offer, and that Trump is content with 3.5 percent.

He has previously received support from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who said last month that "we have to spend much more than two percent".

Elon Musk vs Europe
Trump: Musk is smart – doing a very good job

With two weeks left until the change of power, Donald Trump and his confidant, tech billionaire Elon Musk, have already angered a number of European leaders.

During Tuesday's press conference at Mar-a-Lago, Trump was asked about Musk's plethora of X-rated posts about British and German domestic policy, which has also drawn criticism from Norway and France, writes Politico.

- I don't know who you're talking about. I know he's said some negative things about some people running for political positions, but that's not that unusual, Trump replied.

The future president added that Musk is a "very smart guy" who is doing a very good job.

Trudeau’s resignation
Trudeau: Never in hell will Canada become the US

There is “not a chance in hell” that Canada will become part of the US, writes outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on X.

His Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly adds that Canada “will never bow” to threats from Donald Trump.

The statements come after Trump earlier in the day, during a long press conference at Mar-a-Lago, threatened economic coercion to force Canada to become the 51st state of the US.

– You remove the artificial border and you check how it looks and that would also be better for national security. Don't forget: We are practically protecting Canada, he said.

Meta's future
MMA mogul Dana White elected to Meta's board

In addition to White, auto mogul John Elkann and tech investor Charlie Songhurst are also appointed board members.
