Israeli shelling and explosions in the West Bank

The Israeli military operation in the West Bank city of Jenin continues. Explosions and gunfire were heard on Wednesday, several media outlets reported.

The Israeli military describes it as "fighting terrorism".

- The occupation army has bulldozed all the roads leading to the Jenin camp and to the Jenin hospital, Kamal Abu al-Rub, the Jenin governor, told AFP.

Israel launched a major military operation in the city on Tuesday, two days after the ceasefire began in Gaza. Israeli forces have killed at least nine Palestinians and wounded at least 40 on Tuesday.

Houthi releases crew after a year as hostages

The Iran-backed Houthi militia releases the crew of the Galaxy Leader ship after more than a year due to the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Al Jazeera reports. The Bahamian-flagged ship, which is linked to an Israeli owner, was hijacked in November 2023, shortly after the start of the war in Gaza.

The crew of 25 people from Bulgaria, Ukraine, the Philippines, Mexico and Romania have been taken to Oman for further travel home.

The Houthis are threatening to hijack more ships if Israel violates the ceasefire, the group said in a statement according to Reuters.

After the ceasefire was signed on Sunday, the group promised to stop attacking all but Israeli-owned ships in the Red Sea, according to the New York Times. Attacks on Israeli ships will also stop when the full ceasefire agreement is implemented.
