Russian invasion The world's response

USA: New aid package of 500 million dollars for Ukraine

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken presented on Thursday a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 500 million dollars, equivalent to just over 5.5 billion Swedish kronor, Reuters reports.

The announcement came in connection with the military summit at the US military base Ramstein in Germany. There, EU Foreign Affairs Chief Kaja Kallas also promised the Union's continued support for Ukraine even if the incoming Trump administration were to take a step back.

- I am truly convinced that all the other members, and hopefully also the US, are prepared to continue with the support for Ukraine, she says according to AFP and continues:

- The EU is also prepared to take over this leadership if the US does not want to do so.

Trump's Ukraine envoy: He is trying to save Ukraine

Donald Trump is trying to save Ukraine and the country's sovereignty, according to the president-elect's Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg. In an interview with Fox News, he says that Trump wants to end the war as quickly as possible.

- People need to understand that he is not trying to give anything to Putin and the Russians, says Kellogg.

He also criticizes Joe Biden and the lack of dialogue between the United States and Russia.

- The biggest mistake he made was not engaging in conversations with Putin. As a president, you have to talk to both opponents and allies, says Kellogg.

Zelenskyj: NATO troops can pressure Russia into peace

Nato allies deploying troops in Ukraine would be "one of the best instruments" to force Russia into peace. This is what President Volodymyr Zelenskyj claims at a military summit in Germany, AFP reports.

– Let's think more practically to make it possible, says Zelenskyj without specifying whether he is referring to combat soldiers or peacekeeping forces.

At the same time, Zelenskyj believes that Europe is entering a "new chapter" when Donald Trump is sworn in as the next US president later in January.

– I see this as a time of opportunity. We have shown that when we stand together, no one is too small to make a mark in history, says the president in a clear call to the incoming US leadership to continue supporting Ukraine, according to TT.
