Medicine prices in the US have been reduced by up to 600 percent.

President Donald Trump repeats the mathematical impossibility when he now wants to highlight how the economy is doing since he took over the US.

During a speech at the Republican convention in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, the president began by repeating that his economic policies have led to lower prices for Americans.

The speech was largely reminiscent of the televised address he gave to the nation earlier this week when he highlighted what his administration had achieved during his time as president. Lower prices for eggs and gasoline, reduced inflation and higher wages were some of the successes he highlighted.

Cheaper than free

He also took, as he has claimed before, drug prices as an example. A 100 percent reduction would be to bring them down to zero, but he claims to have succeeded even better:

- I have reduced drug prices by as much as 400, 500 and even 600 percent, he said in the speech.

Saw “Obamacare”

Trump also attacked the healthcare reform Affordable Care Act (ACA), better known as “Obamacare”, and referred to it as “Barack Hussein Obamacare”, referring to the former president’s middle name.

The Republican rally in North Carolina was the second such event that Trump has attended recently. It is seen as a sign that he is concerned about declining popularity ratings, which in turn are being affected by, among other things, the controversies surrounding the Epstein documents and the government shutdown this fall.
