The future of the Republicans
"Spectacular civil war" at important Maga conference
"A spectacular civil war within the Maga movement" broke out on stage during a conference organized by the late Charlie Kirk's organization "Turning Point USA" last night. This is reported by Politico, which writes that the meeting was intended to be a guide to the future of Donald Trump's political movement.
The conservative internet debater Ben Shapiro used his speaking time to attack other high-profile Republicans. He called Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens and Steve Bannon, among others, "fraudsters and swindlers".
- The conservative movement is seriously threatened by charlatans who claim to stand for principles but who in fact spread conspiracy theories, he says.
Kirk's widow: I support Vance in the next presidential election
The
organization Turning Point USA, the organization of murdered right-wing
activist Charlie Kirk, has already decided who it wants to see as the
next president. This was announced by the widow Erika Kirk, who took
over the presidency, last night.
– We will make sure that my
husband's friend JD Vance gets elected, Kirk said at a meeting in
Phoenix, according to the Washington Post.
Turning Point USA is
one of the most influential organizations on the American right, and the
announcement gives Vance a big boost in the fight to be the
Republicans' next presidential candidate, the newspaper writes.
Tensions in the Caribbean
Trump does not rule out war with Venezuela
It is possible that US President Donald Trump will declare war on Venezuela, he says in an interview with NBC News.
- I am not ruling that out, no.
In recent months, the US has escalated its aggression against Venezuela. Over 100 people have been killed in US bombings of alleged drug boats, US warships have been moved to the Caribbean Sea and on Tuesday Trump ordered a blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers to and from Venezuela. The order targets Venezuela's main source of income, oil.
Several analysts claim that the US goal is to remove Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Trump declines to answer whether this is the case.
- He knows exactly what I want. He knows it better than anyone else, he tells NBC.
