A man has been arrested after throwing shotgun shells into Buckingham Palace.
London police have also blown up a mysterious bag at the castle.
The area is now cordoned off.
Just days before King Charles' coronation, a major drama unfolded outside Buckingham Palace in London.
A man was arrested after throwing what are believed to be shotgun cartridges into the castle grounds. The man is said to have also been armed with a knife, BNO News states and refers to the police.
"Police quickly arrested a man at around 7pm on Tuesday, May 2, after he approached the gates of Buckingham Palace and threw a number of objects - suspected to be shotgun shells - into the Palace grounds," a spokesperson said.
- There have been no reports of any shots or injuries.
A suspicious bag was also found nearby, after which a media area was evacuated.
"Controlled detonation"
Police then conducted a "controlled detonation" of the bag, police said.
- The police are still at the scene and further investigations are underway.
King Charles' coronation will take place at Westminister Abbey on May 6. 2,000 people are invited, including royalty and heads of state from all over the world.
The king and crown princess come from Sweden.
