Khan's supporters reportedly stormed military buildings
At least ten people have been injured in clashes between protesters and the police in Pakistan. Reuters reports. The protests have escalated on Tuesday after the country's former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested outside a court in Islamabad.
Pakistani authorities have issued a state of emergency in three out of four provinces banning public gatherings. In several places, access to mobile data has been shut off and Twitter, Facebook and Youtube have been restricted by order of the Ministry of the Interior.
According to testimonies and videos from Khan's party, supporters have also stormed military buildings and blocked major roads. Reuters has not been able to verify this information.

Calls for protests after the arrest of Imran Khan
After the arrest of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his party colleagues are now calling for protests in the country, writes Bloomberg.
Khan was arrested by the military at a court in Islamabad where he was to be tried for bribery. Images from local media show that it must have been chaotic on the spot with hundreds of supporters clashing with the military. The party calls the arrest a kidnapping and now calls on more supporters to come out and "defend" their country.
The ex-prime minister was forced out of power in a no-confidence vote in 2022. Since then, he has openly criticized the current government, something the military has warned Khan to do when he makes "baseless allegations".
