Princess Kate has cancer: "I'm doing well and getting stronger every day"
Princess Kate has suffered from cancer, she states in a video message according to the BBC.
- This came as a big shock, she says in the video and continues:
- It has been incredibly tough months for our family, but I have a fantastic team of doctors who take care of me.
She adds that she has started chemotherapy and thanks the public for their support.
- I feel well and am getting stronger every day.
The cancer was discovered in connection with the stomach operation she underwent at the beginning of the year. It is not clear what type of cancer the Princess of Wales suffered from.
Kate Middleton has not appeared in public since last December. Her absence has led to great speculation about her health.

Analysis: Much is explained by Kate's cancer diagnosis
After weeks of speculation about Princess Kate's absence, the public now knows that she has been staying out of the limelight due to her cancer diagnosis. This is written by the BBC's court reporter Sean Coughlan.
Her treatment began at the end of February. According to Coughlan, that would explain both the poorly edited picture that was published, and later retracted, and her four-month absence.
"The news also means that Kate will not be in the public eye and that her return depends entirely on her health," he writes.
Rumors about her health have ranged from her being in a coma to her and husband Prince William having marital problems.
"It disgusts me that a woman with a cancer diagnosis, at an early stage of her treatment, also had to deal with a global rumor mill that was out of control," writes Sky News' Rhiannon Mills.
The video that the court has now published is, according to experts, completely unedited. The reason it was released was so that the public would learn the truth and thus stop speculating.
"Due to a lack of information, speculation has arisen," writes SvD's Charlotta Buxton.
