US debt ceiling
The speaker is threatened after the budget settlement in the USA
The US House of Representatives has voted through a package of 1,200 billion dollars, equivalent to almost 12,700 billion kroner, to avoid a shutdown of the state apparatus. This is reported by American media.
The decision must now be approved in the Senate. The deadline expires at midnight, the night before Saturday.
The agreement did not go down well with the conservative Republican member Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has now presented a motion to remove the speaker and fellow party member Mike Johnson, AP writes.
Former Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy was similarly forced out by the party's conservative phalanx after a deal with Democrats to prevent a shutdown.
However, a vote on Johnson's future is not expected anytime soon as the House of Representatives takes a two-week vacation after Friday's session.

The IT threat from Russia
Russian "elite hackers" to attack German parties
Last month, "elite hackers" linked to Russian intelligence carried out cyber attacks against several German political parties, with the aim of accessing their internal networks and stealing data.
This is according to new, separate reports from Germany's cyber security authority and Google owner Alphabet's cyber security group Mandiant, writes Reuters.
According to Mandiant, hacker group APT29 tried to trick "key German political figures" into opening an email that purported to be an invitation to a dinner event by the German Christian Democrats CDU.

USA: There is nowhere to go from Rafah
There is nowhere for the around 1.5 million refugees in Rafah to go, says US Vice President Kamala Harris according to CNN before the offensive that Israel is planning.
- I have looked at the maps, I have studied them, she says.
Foreign Minister Antony Blinken, who visited Israel on Friday and held "sincere talks" with the government, also opposes the plan.
- It risks further isolating Israel in the world and can endanger its long-term security and standing, he says according to the BBC.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is not being persuaded, and says that they will enter Rafah with or without US support.
