Israel's defense leadership has approved plans for "both offensive and defensive operations."
And you have the right to take revenge, says Israel's UN ambassador Gilad Erdan.
- Iran's attack has crossed all red lines.
Quick version
- Israel's defense leadership has approved plans for both offensive and defensive operations in the wake of Iran's attack.
- The UN Security Council met at the request of Israel, where Israel's UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan said Iran's attack had crossed all red lines and said Israel had the right to retaliate.
- At the same time, the UN and world leaders are calling for restraint,
while Iran is warning of massive retaliation if the US and Israel
retaliate.
The UN Security Council held an extraordinary meeting on Sunday evening, at the request of Israel.
When Israel's UN ambassador Gilad Erdan was given the floor, he said Iran has crossed all red lines with its attack.
The fact that the United States and other countries helped shoot down the Iranian robots does not change the brutality of the attack, Erdan said, according to the Washington Post.
He also said Israel has a legal right to retaliate, and called for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to be classified as a terrorist organization.
Earlier in the evening, the defense leadership in Israel announced that it has approved plans for "both offensive and defensive operations."
This after the country's war cabinet had a meeting on Sunday, reports Sky News.

Source: Will Strike Back
It is unclear what the offensive and defensive operations will entail.
- We will continue to protect the state of Israel together with our allies, said Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari at the press conference.
According to American NBC News, Israel will strike back, but no decisions have been made about what such an attack will look like.
This is stated by one of the channel's sources who should have had access to the Israeli War Cabinet meeting during the day.

UN: "Deep concern"
At the same time, the world's leaders urge restraint.
After an emergency meeting, the G7 countries say in a statement that they are ready to "take further measures" and that they give Israel their full support.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres urges the parties to "avoid actions that could lead to military confrontations."
- I am deeply concerned that there is a danger of an escalation in the region, he says.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned the attack, as did his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau, along with several other leaders around the world.
This is reported by TT.
Warnings from Iran
At the same time, there are warnings from Iran's capital, Tehran. If Israel and the US retaliate, Iran will attack again, they say.
And the next attack will be significantly more extensive, says Iran.
- If Israel strikes back against Iran, our response will be significantly greater than tonight's effort, said Major General Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff in Iran's army, to the country's state television.
They are also supposed to have warned the USA to help Israel. If it happens in some form of retaliation, American bases will also be targeted, according to the Iranian military.
The Guardian reports.
