The Indian opposition has asked the election authority to act against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP party, Reuters reports.
In a speech on Sunday, Modi reportedly called India's Muslims "infiltrators," which the opposition says violates a law that prohibits candidates from urging people to vote or abstain from voting on religious grounds.
Modi and his Hindu nationalist party have previously been accused of fueling tensions between Muslims and Hindus. The ruling party has dismissed the opposition's accusations.

Re-election and increased security after attacks on polling stations
As India's elections opened on Friday, 11 of Manipur state's nearly 3,000 polling stations were attacked by gunmen, prompting election authorities to annul the results. On Monday, people got a chance to cast their votes again at the affected polling stations, reports the AP news agency.
Security around the re-election has been strengthened after the attacks.
Since May 2023, the state has had major problems with violence between ethnic groups, according to the news agency. About 200 people have been killed and over 60,000 people have been forced to flee their homes.
