Around 80 per cent of recent immigrants to Ireland have crossed into the country from the UK. This is what Irish Minister of Justice Helen McEntee says to the country's public service channel RTE.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says the increased migration to Ireland is a sign that plans to send asylum seekers to Rwanda are working.
- People are afraid to come here, he tells Sky News.
Sunak's Irish counterpart Simon Harris is not as happy about the situation and wants to send the migrants back to the UK.
- This country will in no way create loopholes for the migration challenges of others, says Harris' spokesperson.
