TV tower has collapsed after Russian attack on Kharkiv

A 240 meter high television tower has collapsed after a Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, reports AFP.

The city's governor, Oleg Synegubov, writes on the Telegram messaging service that Russia attacked the "television infrastructure" in the city, but that no one was injured in the attack. The TV broadcasts are said to be down.

Pictures and videos from the scene show the top of the tower breaking off and plunging to the ground while a cloud of gray smoke rises into the sky.

Several Russian robot and drone attacks have been directed at the city in recent weeks, and on Monday several towns in the Kharkiv region were shelled.

The election in the United States|The indictments against Trump
Expert: Trump can turn the tide – if he testifies

In the end, it may be Donald Trump himself who decides whether he is convicted in the case in which he is accused of trying to cover up the use of campaign money to buy the silence of porn star Stormy Daniels.

This is what former prosecutor Adam Kaufmann told CNN after both the prosecution and Trump's defense lawyers held their opening statements in the court in Washington during the evening, Swedish time.

Kaufmann insists that prosecutors must convince all jurors that Trump is guilty. Trump, for his part, only needs to convince one of them to stop a conviction.

- He is a persuasive person. He needs to get one person to believe him to split the jury, and he might be able to do that by testifying himself.

Neither Donald Trump nor his lawyers have given any word on whether the former president intends to take the witness stand.

Political situation in Papua New Guinea
Furious over Biden's cannibal statement

Papua New Guinea's prime minister is furious with Joe Biden after he claimed his uncle was shot down over Papua New Guinea during World War II - and then "probably" eaten by cannibals.

- President Biden may mince words, but my country does not deserve to be portrayed in this way, says James Marape in a statement, reports Politico.

According to US military documentation, Biden's uncle disappeared during a flight over Papua New Guinea at the end of the war. However, there is no information that he was shot down or what happened to the body.

According to Marape, however, plenty of traces of the US presence during the war remain - which Biden could well help clean up.

- Our people live in daily fear of being killed by undetonated bombs from the Second World War, says Marape.
