WSJ: Trump's advisers want to give him power over interest rates
Several of Donald Trump's former presidential staff are devising a plan to give him greater influence over the Federal Reserve. One of the proposals is that Trump should be consulted on interest rate decisions if he becomes president again. This is stated by sources for the Wall Street Journal.
According to the newspaper, the group has produced a secret ten-page document with various proposals that would seriously undermine the central bank's independence. It is unclear whether Trump had any hand in the game, but some of the sources believe that the group has received his blessing.

Sources: NYT wants revenge on Biden's interview refusal
There is a chilly atmosphere between US President Joe Biden and the country's heaviest newspaper, the New York Times. The reason is that the newspaper did not get a long interview with the president, despite repeated requests, writes Politico.
New York Times CEO AG Sulzberger is said to be very annoyed by Biden's reluctance to be interviewed and often points out that the newspaper has had long meetings with all presidents since Franklin Roosevelt.
Sources in the editorial office say that Sulzberger believes that only an interview with the New York Times, or a similar newspaper, can provide answers as to whether Biden is in good enough shape to serve as president for another four years.
- In silence, he encourages all critical reporting about Biden's age, says a journalist at the newspaper.
In a statement, the paper strongly denied that its reporting was motivated by revenge.
