Columbia University stops all teaching on site, US media reports. Since last week, the university campus has been filled with students protesting Israel's war in Gaza.
"To de-escalate the bitterness and give us all a chance to think about the next step, I have decided that all courses will be held digitally," writes the university's director Nemat Shafik in a statement.
Several Jewish students at the university say they feel threatened by the protesters, and complaints about anti-Semitic remarks have also been lodged with university management.

'No evidence' for Israel's Unrwa accusations - body praised in heavy report
Israel has still not provided evidence to support the claims that a larger number of UNRWA employees may be linked to terrorist groups such as Hamas. This is apparent from an independent report commissioned by the UN and led by France's former foreign minister Catherine Colonna, The Guardian learns.
The so-called Colonna report, produced in collaboration with three Nordic research institutes, is to be presented later today.
According to the report, there are measures that the UN can take to further ensure the neutrality of Unrwa's 32,000 employees. At the same time, the report states that the mechanisms that exist within UNRWA today are already more developed than those of similar UN bodies and non-governmental organizations.
According to the report, UNRWA, the United Nations relief agency for Palestine refugees, regularly provided Israel with lists of all employees. Israel has not expressed concern about any names since 2011.
Israel's alarm earlier this year caused a long list of major donor countries to withdraw or pause their support. In recent weeks, most have resumed funding Unrwa.
