Analysis: Sunak pressured by Farage - is like a belch
Rishi Sunak is being pressured by disastrous poll numbers and by the comeback of disgruntled politician Nigel Farage on the political scene. The BBC's Chris Mason writes in an analysis that the prime minister is in dire need of a game changer, but that one did not appear during Tuesday's debate with rival Keir Starmer.
“The tone and form stood out. It often became angry, aggressive, personal and raw," he writes.
The Guardian's Rafael BVehr writes that Farage's decision to stand in the election means that Sunak's campaign is now losing color and mostly appears as a lame tribute to the Brexit policy. He likens Farage's re-entry to "a loud, sonorous belch warning of an undigested meal".

Sunak and Starmer met in debate - no winner
On Tuesday evening, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labor leader Keir Starmer met in the first debate before the election later this summer. According to TT, the messages were what they were waiting for. Sunak pressed the importance of having a plan for the country going forward, while Starmer accused Sunak and the Conservative Party of mismanaging the country during their time in power.
After the debate, the British media found it difficult to name a clear winner. Sky News and Yougov, which gauged voters' verdict on the debate, concluded it was close to a tie, with a slight edge to Sunak. Neither the left-leaning The Guardian nor the right-wing newspaper The Telegraph could easily declare winners.
