The police: Difficult to reach people in need

The rescue operation in connection with the severe floods in the Philippines is difficult due to the high water levels, according to AFP. In the Bicol region, about 40 kilometers southeast of the capital Manila, several people have died. Among other things, one person drowned in a bus that was swept away in the water.

- We have sent the police rescue team but they are struggling to get into some areas because the floods are heavy and the current is strong, says Luisa Calubaqui, spokesperson for the police.

At least 32⁠ 000 people have fled their homes in the northern parts of the country. Seven people have been confirmed dead after the storm Trami moved into the Philippines. The storm has brought strong winds and torrential rain.

Several are missing in the Philippines after severe storms

The eastern parts of the Philippines have been hit by severe floods, AP reports. During the night, people have, among other things, taken shelter on rooftops while major rescue operations have been underway in several areas.

The floods are due to heavy rain that moved in over the country in connection with the progress of the storm Trami in the region.

At least seven people have died and several are still missing. Local authorities have, among other things, closed public schools. Thousands of people have been evacuated.
