Trump's ultimatum to Putin: Deal now or tariffs
Donald Trump threatens Vladimir Putin with tariffs and expanded sanctions if he does not make a deal with Ukraine "now", reports Reuters.
"I do not want to hurt Russia. I love the Russian people", Trump begins a long post on his social media Truth Social. He continues:
"If we do not make a deal, and soon, I will have no choice but to impose high taxes, tariffs and sanctions on everything sold by Russia to the United States and other countries."
Zelenskyj in Davos: "Appreciates everything Sweden has done"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj thanked Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) and Sweden for the military support when the two leaders met during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday.
"We appreciate everything Sweden has already done to support Ukraine, especially the strengthening of our air defense and the investments in our defense production," he writes on X.
Zelenskyj also asks the world to continue to help Ukraine.

Zelenskyj: 200,000 soldiers required for peace agreement
At least 200,000 allied soldiers will be needed to enforce a possible peace agreement in Ukraine in the future, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj. This is reported by TT, citing The Guardian.
Donald Trump, the newly elected US president, has promised to quickly end the war in Ukraine, but Zelenskyy stresses that any kind of ceasefire agreement depends on guarantees from the West.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday, the Ukrainian president urged European leaders not to think about what Donald Trump will do but instead to take action to defend their own continent.
“Europe must establish itself as a strong, global player, as an indispensable player,” the Ukrainian president said.
