Spokesperson: Putin ready to talk to Macron

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his readiness to talk to French President Emmanuel Macron about the war in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“If there is a common political will, this can only be assessed positively,” Peskov told the Russian state news agency Ria Novosti.

Macron said earlier this week that he believes Europe should resume contact with Putin about ending the war in Ukraine.

"Either a robust and lasting peace is reached with the obligatory security guarantees, or in the coming weeks we will have to find ways for Europe to resume a dialogue with Russia, with complete transparency and in consultation with Ukraine," Macron told reporters in Brussels on Friday.
