Imran Khan remains in jail for eight days '
Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan will remain in custody for another eight days, his lawyers announced, according to AFP.
Khan is suspected of bribery and was arrested on Tuesday by armed military. The arrest has led to large protests in several cities. In the province of Punjab, 945 people have been arrested. 130 police officers and civil servants have been injured, TT writes.

UN: "Haitians need urgent support - and now"
Over 600 people have been killed in the extreme violence" that prevails in Haiti since gang criminals took over large parts of the capital Port-au-Prince, according to the UN according to AFP.
- Every report I receive from Haiti underlines the extent of the suffering and shows that the Haitians need urgent support and that they need it now, says UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.
Türk reiterates his call that a specialized armed force should be sent to Haiti to help the police and authorities restore order.
100 injured in suspected gas leak at German school
Around 100 people were injured at a school in Schwäbisch Hall in Germany on Wednesday after irritant gas was released, local media reported. 80 people were treated on site and around 20 had to be taken to hospital.
Exactly what has happened and what type of gas it is that has leaked is unclear, but the police suspect that the release was deliberate.
The school has been evacuated and the police operation is over. Around 40 ambulances, several fire trucks and three helicopters were on the scene.
