This year's Polar Prize is awarded.
At a gala at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, award winners Angélique Kidjo and Chris Blackwell received their awards from the hand of King Carl Gustaf.
The third prize winner, the 87-year-old Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, was not present himself, but his prize was received by his son Michael Pärt.
As usual, the award winners were celebrated with performances during the gala. Chris Blackwell, who is the founder of the label Island Records, was recognized with performances by Benjamin Ingrosso, Daniela Rathana and Anna Ternheim.
African superstar Angélique Kidjo was praised by Lisa Ekdahl and Ysee, while Arvo Pärt was noticed by St Jacob's Chamber Choir as well as pianistKarin Haglund and violinist Claudia Bonfiglioli.
