The Russians admit losses at Bachmut.

At the same time, Ukraine is now receiving British cruise robots ahead of the offensive that may have already begun.

- Russia's enemies are leading the world to World War III. A global disaster, says ex-president Dimitrij Medvedev.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on Friday that its forces were forced to withdraw from positions in northern Bachmut.

Spokesperson Igor Konashenkov says that Ukrainian troops have advanced with a thousand soldiers and about forty tanks.

- Unfortunately, it is not a regrouping. It is a complete defeat, says Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin in an audio message.

Can surround the Russians

If the information is correct, it is the biggest success in the fight for Bachmut in six months, writes Radio Free Europe.

Prigozhin also states that Ukraine has control over the highway leading to the city from the west.

It could lead to his soldiers from the Wagner group being surrounded inside the central parts of Bachmut.

According to other information, Ukraine is also to advance south of Bachmut.

The bombed-out city has been at the center of the war in recent times.

Prigozhin, who is in a low-intensity war of his own with the Russian defense leadership, a week ago showed scores of dead soldiers in the area in a furious video.

"Ready for Defeat"

He threatened to take everyone in the private army Wagner Group out of the city unless more ammunition was delivered.

Now the Wagner boss says that the Ukrainian counter-offensive, which everyone has been talking about and waiting for for months, has already begun.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated once again on Friday that all Russian forces must be driven out of the country.

"The invaders in Ukraine are already ready for defeat. Mentally, they have already lost the war. We must put pressure on them daily so that their sense of loss results in their flight, their mistakes, their losses," writes Zelenskyy on Twitter.

“We plan to provide you with even more weapons, warriors, so that you have even more opportunities to defeat Russian aggression and create peace. I am grateful to everyone who helps Ukraine.

Get cruise robots

It is said from the Ukrainian side that preparations for the counter-offensive are going according to plan.

On Thursday, it received a substantial addition to the arsenal when Great Britain announced that it is sending long-range weapons to Ukraine.

The Storm Shadow cruise robot is launched from a combat plane and has a range of 250 kilometers.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has also supported fighter jets to Ukraine.

Earlier in the week, the US announced a new support package worth just over ten billion kroner to Ukraine to "increase the country's air defenses" and "help with the need for artillery ammunition".

Dimitrij Medvedev, vice-chairman of the Russian Security Council and former president of Russia, is now attacking the Western powers and their involvement in Putin's "special operation".

Could lead to world war

He believes that the war is to ensure "the safety of millions of people" - and states that the world could face a catastrophic world war.

- It is obvious that a full-scale hybrid war is being waged against our country. American and European benefactors are pumping our enemies with deadly weapons of all kinds. They encourage terrorist acts in Russian border regions, carry out sabotage and political executions, says Medvedev during a speech in St. Petersburg, according to the russian news  agency Tass.

- Russia's enemies are leading the world towards World War III, a global catastrophe where there are no winners.

The ex-president draws parallels to the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, when the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union reached perhaps its hottest days.

- It would be appropriate to remember today how many Soviet ballistic robots were enough for the US to trigger a global psychosis, says Medvedev.

- And at the same time, how many weapons have been taken to NATO-controlled territory near Russia's borders in a short period of time. The question is who are actually bringing the world closer to the apocalypse. Aerial view of Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine. The picture is from last Thursday.
