Increased police presence after the French protests
France is increasing the police presence in Paris and other major cities and calling for calm after the night's violent protests, AP reports.
The protests broke out after a 17-year-old boy was shot dead by police who stopped his car in the suburb of Nanterre.
25 police officers have been injured, 31 people arrested and 40 cars burned during the unrest. 2,000 police officers will be deployed in French cities on Wednesday, according to Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin.
The case has shocked France and has been condemned by President Emmanuel Macron and soccer star Kylian Mbappé, among others

Teenager shot by police - large protests in Paris
Large protests have flared up in Paris after a teenager was shot dead by police on Tuesday, writes Le Parisien.
The incident occurred in Nanterre in western Paris when two motorcycle police officers stopped a driver for a traffic violation. In a clip that has spread on social media, one police officer can be seen holding a gun aimed at the driver.
- You're going to get a bullet in the head, a voice is heard saying in the clip, where shots are later heard to be fired.
The policeman seen in the clip with the weapon has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
During the night of Wednesday, the French capital was shaken by protests where 40 cars were set on fire and 31 people were arrested.
