Biden wants the power to close the border with Mexico
Joe
Biden is expected to sign a presidential order that gives him the power
to temporarily completely close the border with Mexico when the number
of migrants reaches a certain level. This is stated by sources for the
New York Times and CBS News.
Biden's staff is said to have
informed members of Congress about the upcoming order, which is
confirmed by Texas Democrat Henry Cuellar, among others.
- It is something I really stand behind and something I have advocated for several years, he tells the NYT.
The
newspaper writes that the proposal would be by far the toughest that
Biden, or any other modern Democrat, has put forward and is reminiscent
of a proposal that Donald Trump tried to get through in 2018. Trump's
proposal was blocked by the court. Even Biden's order is said to face
stiff legal resistance.

US tests nuclear weapons: "Trust in lethality"
At the beginning of next week, the United States will test intercontinental ballistic missiles of the Minuteman III type. This is stated by the US military in a press release.
The tests will be carried out with unequipped robots, but Minuteman can be equipped with nuclear weapons in a sharp mode, writes the Moscow Times. The range is sufficient to be able to hit targets in, for example, Russia.
"The purpose of the test program is to demonstrate the readiness of the United States' nuclear forces and to instill confidence in the lethality and effectiveness of the nation's nuclear deterrent," the military writes in the press release.

Russian propaganda is financed by funds with Swedish connections
A Russian foundation linked to the country's intelligence services has in recent years carried out advocacy work in European countries by funding propaganda sites. This is reported by SVT, GP and international media based on documents from an intelligence source in Europe.
One of the sites, said to have been created as an alternative to the EU-banned Sputnik and Russia Today sites and created by the foundation Pravfond, is said to be run from an office in Brussels. But it is made up, writes GP.
The fund is said to have a Nordic manager with branches in Sweden, through various local associations. Several of them are said to have received one million kroner, but it is not clear what the money was used for.
On paper, Pravfond finances legal aid for Russian citizens and the people with whom SVT and GP have been in contact do not want to know any connection to Russian intelligence services.
In total, the Russian state must have paid more than SEK 50 million to Pravfond.
