Earthquake in Afghanistan

Death toll in Afghanistan continues to rise

The death toll in Afghanistan has risen to 2,200 after Monday's earthquake, according to the Taliban government. The AP reports.

The vast majority of the victims were from the mountainous Kunar province near the border with Pakistan. Rugged terrain has hampered rescue efforts. In addition, the presence of aid organizations has decreased sharply since the Taliban took power.
