Hospital Director: “Devastated to See the Bodies of My Brother and His Wife”

Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of the al-Shifa hospital, was working when two dead bodies, who turned out to be his relatives, came into the hospital after new attacks in Gaza City on Saturday.

“I was shocked and devastated to see the bodies of my brother and his wife,” he told the AFP news agency.

Al Jazeera writes that the brother, Majed Abu Salmiya, was killed after an attack on the family home. Several other relatives, including children, are said to have been killed in the attack.

Trump contradicts Israel on hostages: “There could be 10 left”

Donald Trump says that as few as 10 of the 48 Israelis still being held hostage by Hamas may be alive, reports the Times of Israel.

“We have 32 dead, maybe as many as 38 dead – mostly young people,” he said.

The claim contradicts Israel’s assessment that 20 of the captives are still alive, which has caused despair among the families. Israeli authorities have assured the families that their assessment stands.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Donald Trump also said that the ongoing invasion of Gaza City, which is feared to be endangering the lives of the hostages, “could put them (at greater risk) but they could also be released.”
