Israel has approved the US peace plan proposal: “One of the finest days of civilization
Israel has approved the US peace plan for Gaza. This is what US President Donald Trump said at a press conference after Monday’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
According to the Times of Israel, which has seen a copy of the proposal, an immediate ceasefire is proposed, that Israeli forces gradually withdraw and that all remaining hostages in Gaza are released.
– This could be one of the finest days of civilization, says Trump.
The plan has not yet been accepted by Hamas, but Trump says he is hopeful that it will be.
– I think we will get a positive response
Netanyahu: Accept it or we will continue
Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu supports Donald Trump’s plan for peace in Gaza. This is what the Israeli Prime Minister said at the leaders’ joint press conference. He says that the proposal is in line with Israel’s war plan and says what awaits if Hamas says no or in any way opposes the American proposal.
– Then Israel will complete the mission on its own.
According to Netanyahu, the proposal includes the release of all hostages, the disarmament of Hamas and the fact that “Gaza will never again pose a threat to Israel”.
The peace plan’s 21 points pave the way for a two-state solution
The US proposal for a peace agreement between Hamas and Israel contains 21 points, according to the Times of Israel, which has seen a copy of the proposal. Among other things, Gazans are encouraged to stay in the Gaza Strip – a departure from Donald Trump’s idea from February to permanently relocate the area’s two million inhabitants, the newspaper writes.
The document is also said to pave the way for a two-state solution, something the Trump administration has so far avoided expressing support for. Among other things, there is talk of agreeing on a “political horizon” for “peaceful coexistence”, according to the Times of Israel.
Others The points are that Hamas should release all remaining hostages and commit to complete disarmament. This also includes the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, as well as the establishment of a deradicalization process for the population.
US President Donald Trump has indicated that an agreement may be close and he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later in the day. However, according to Times of Israel sources, the proposal has not yet been presented in full to Hamas.
