 Negotiations
Zelensky and Trump to meet at the UN next week

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his American counterpart Donald Trump will meet next week, Zelensky said, AFP reports.

The meeting will take place in New York in connection with the UN General Assembly. Trump is scheduled to speak on Tuesday and Zelensky on Wednesday. It is not yet clear which day they will meet.

The presidents will discuss the security guarantees for Ukraine that European countries have already pledged.

Stubb: Europe must be ready to defend Ukraine

Security guarantees mean that European countries must be ready to defend Ukraine if Russia were to attack again, according to Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

– Security guarantees are fundamentally a deterrent. The deterrent must be credible and then it must be strong, he tells The Guardian.

The president emphasizes that the security guarantees would only come into effect if Ukraine and Russia agree on a ceasefire. According to Stubb, Russia has no power to decide how the guarantees are designed.

Poland sends fighter jets after Ukraine attack

During the night, western Ukraine was attacked by several Russian drones, reports Kyiv Independent.

This prompted Poland to send fighter jets to defend the country's airspace.

"Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defense and radar systems for reconnaissance have been put on high alert," the Polish defense wrote on X early Saturday morning.

After Polish airspace was violated by Russian drones a little over a week ago, NATO has reinforced along the eastern border.

Putin's Russia
Putin holds his own Eurovision - the audience pays

On Saturday, 23 countries will participate in Intervision: Russia's own version of the Eurovision song contest, which the country has ported from after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Among others, China, Saudi Arabia and India will participate in the spectacle, which is painted as "the world's largest music event", but according to SVT Verifierar the audience is paid to attend.

- Intervision today is organized by the Russian regime with the aim of distancing itself from the West and the decadent Eurovision culture, says cultural journalist Oskar Anesten.
