British Cabinet Reshuffle – Lammy Replaces Rayner

The British Labour government has been forced to reshuffle several of its most important ministerial posts after Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner was forced to resign.

Downing Street has announced that Foreign Secretary David Lammy will take over the posts of Deputy Justice Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister. He will be replaced by former Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, who in turn will be replaced by Attorney General Shabana Mahmood.

Rayner was forced to resign after The Telegraph revealed that she cheated on taxes in connection with a property deal.

A long list of new ministers are being appointed at the same time – including Emma Reynolds as Environment Secretary, Peter Kyle as Trade Secretary and Steve Reed as Housing Secretary.

Conflicting reports on GPS interference against EU plane

The Bulgarian government gave conflicting reports on Thursday about whether Russia had interfered with the GPS signal of an EU-chartered plane during Ursula von der Leyen's flight to Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

At first, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov downplayed the incident as a normal signal interference, of the kind that can occur in densely populated areas. A few hours later, he reopened the suspicions, writes Politico.

The Financial Times reported on Monday that the plane had to land using paper maps after circling for an hour, and Brussels quickly accused Russia of "clear interference." But analysts have questioned the information, as flight data shows that the signal was never completely lost and that the delay was only nine minutes.
