Iran sends a sharp warning to London and Paris not to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz.

The warning on Sunday was issued by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on X:

"We remind (the countries) that both in wartime and peacetime, only Iran can be responsible for the security of this strait - and Iran will not allow any other country to interfere."

An intervention will be met with "a firm and immediate response".

President Emmanuel Macron said on Sunday that France has not considered ordering warships to the strait; he added that a French operation there “would be coordinated with Iran.”

The UK has announced that HMS Dragon is heading for the Middle East for a possible presence in the Strait.
