Keir Starmer has “lost the country”.

This is claimed by one of his former close allies within the Labour Party.

Josh Simons joins the now growing group demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation.

Josh Simons is a former minister in the British Cabinet and former head of the think tank Labour Together.

After the Labour Party’s heavy losses in the British local elections, he is now calling on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to resign.

“He has lost the country. He should take control of the situation by reviewing an orderly transition to a new Prime Minister.” Simons writes in The Sunday Times on Sunday.

And he is not alone. Former Labour minister Catherine West expressed herself in similar terms when she called on members of the cabinet to challenge the prime minister on Saturday.

If no one has done so by Monday, West will challenge him himself, she said, according to Sky News.

Starmer: Will not throw the country into chaos

As a result of the election results, Labour has lost its majority in 40 councils and nearly 1,500 councillors have lost their seats.

However, Keir Starmer has no plans to leave his post.

– I will not leave the job I was elected to in July 2024. I will not throw the country into chaos, says Starmer in an interview with The Observer.
