American diplomats have been evacuated from Sudan

US embassy staff and their families have been evacuated from Sudan, President Joe Biden says. They were flown out of the country in a military plane to neighboring Djibouti.

- I am grateful for the unparalleled competence of our military that led to our citizens now being safe, says Biden according to AP. At the same time, he calls on the warring parties to lay down their weapons.

The paramilitary forces RSF, which have been fighting the army for a week now, state that they assisted the Americans in the operation.
