Hong Kong radio shuts down: 'Too dangerously political'
The pro-democracy, online radio station "Citizens radio station" in Hong Kong is ending its broadcasts, The Guardian reports. The reason, according to founder Tsang Kin-shing, is that the political situation in the city has become too dangerous.
The station was founded in 2005 and has since become known for its criticism of the authorities and year-long fight for press freedom.
- The red line is everywhere and it has become difficult to invite guests to the program, says Tsang.
This week marked three years since the Beijing government introduced a tough new security law. Since then, many regime critics have been imprisoned or fled Hong Kong.

Peeping when huge ducks would liven up Hong Kong
In June, two giant rubber ducks sailed into Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong. The art installation is part of the government's larger campaign for a "Happy Hong Kong". But three years after Beijing introduced the controversial security law that reduces the city's autonomy, far from all residents are eager to cheer up, writes NBC News.
Democracy activist Kevin Yam describes a feeling of resignation among Hongkongers. Rights they are used to have been taken away, he notes.
- A 'Happy Hong Kong' campaign should be one where the city reverses course and gets some of its freedoms back, he says. It didn't go so well for the ducks either.
Scorching heat forced the organizer to deflate one of them, before both were removed from the port due to high costs and "operational challenges"
