Air show cancelled: Worries about bad reputation and attacks 

 

Russia is canceling the Maks international air show held every two years near Moscow. This is what the UK Ministry of Defense writes in a situation update on Twitter.  

 

The decision has likely been made for security reasons as Ukraine has carried out a series of drone attacks within Russia's borders. In addition, the organizers probably want to avoid Mak's reputation being damaged by the poor turnout from international delegations.  

 

Both the civil and military aviation sectors are usually represented at the fair. According to the British report, Maks has a very important role in securing exports for the Russian aviation industry, which is now under heavy pressure from Western sanctions.

The risk of an oil disaster in the Baltic Sea has increased since the EU introduced sanctions against Russia, reports SVT Nyheter. Since the sanctions were introduced, the country has built up a shadow fleet to transport oil through the Baltic Sea. Many of those boats are old and in poor condition.  

 

- It has significantly increased the risk of an accident, I am deeply concerned, says Peter Ryman, director of defense at the County Administrative Board in Blekinge.  

 

The risk of an oil accident as a result of a collision is greatest in the vicinity of Blekinge, Skåne and Gotland, data from the Helsinki Commission shows.

Drone attacks on Kyiv after twelve days of calm 

 

Kyiv was attacked with drones last night after a twelve-day hiatus, The Guardian reports. 

 

As of Sunday morning, there were no reports of the extent of the Russian attack. Not is it known whether anyone has been injured, the Ukrainian military says.

Zelenskyi on Putin: "More people who want to kill him"  

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has become accustomed to living under threat. He says so in an interview with Spanish El Mundo. But the threat to Vladimir Putin is greater, he notes.  

 

- There are more people who want to kill him.  

 

In the interview, he discusses the relationship with NATO, the risks surrounding the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhya and the failed Wagner uprising.  

 

The mercenaries may pose a new threat to Ukraine if they are transferred to Belarus, the president states. 

 

- We don't think they are capable today of doing anything serious, but we will keep an eye on them at the northern border.
