Vermont demands that "big oil" pay for climate damage
The US state of Vermont is introducing a law that requires "big oil" to pay for damages caused by climate change, local media reports.
The law would mean that all large companies that sold fossil fuels in the state would be obliged to contribute financially. Similar legislation is being discussed in California and New York, among others.
However, several media point out that it is likely that the law will encounter legal obstacles from the designated companies. A lobby group for the oil industry says it is "extremely concerned" because the law introduces a kind of retroactive punishment for activities that were previously legal.

Sweden and the climate
The researcher: Corals are threatened - are tougher than we think
The world's coral reefs - two of which still exist in Sweden - are threatened, says biologist and coral expert Fredrik Moberg to TT.
For the past hundred years, humans have attacked the sensitive reefs with, among other things, dynamite, cyanide and nuclear weapons, but perhaps their worst challenge so far is, after all, global warming, according to Moberg.
- The situation is bad, but I think they will surprise us and be tougher than the worst forecasts suggest. But if the warming goes towards 3 degrees, it will be difficult, he says.

Bad harvest in Brazil - orange juice is under threat
The orange juice risks disappearing from many breakfast tables. Due to weak harvests in Brazil, which accounts for 70 percent of the world's orange juice exports, several companies are considering mixing other citrus fruits into their products, writes The Guardian.
An organization for the juice industry is now trying to push for the food regulations to be rewritten so that orange juice can also contain fruits such as mandarin.
- The orange juice industry is in crisis, says analyst Francois Sonneville to the newspaper.
