18-year-old arrested - believed to have murdered Ukrainian nationalist
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of prominent Ukrainian nationalist Iryna Farion, writes President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram, according to AFP.
The 60-year-old linguist, video blogger and former MP Farion was shot in the head near his apartment in Lviv, western Ukraine, on July 19.
She was a popular but controversial figure in Ukraine who often attacked the use of the Russian language in the country. Last year, she was fired from the University of Lviv after she insulted Russian-speaking brigades in the Ukrainian army in a television interview.

Tourist town in Canada half destroyed in forest fire
Up to half of the popular tourist resort of Jasper in Alberta in western Canada has been destroyed in a devastating wildfire.
Mayor Richard Ireland expresses his "deep sadness" in a letter to residents, AP writes.
"The devastation and losses many of you have now suffered is indescribable and incomprehensible," he writes.
Thousands of people have been forced to flee the flames, writes CNN, but no injuries have been reported.
Jasper has around 5,000 inhabitants and is the main town of the Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

North Korea arrested in the US - hacked hospitals and Nasa
A North Korean man has been arrested in Kansas City in the United States on suspicion of several hacker attacks, AP reports.
Rim Jong-Hyok is believed to have carried out 17 cyber attacks in eleven states, against hospitals, Nasa and military bases, among others. His attacks on hospitals have had an impact on healthcare, according to the authorities.
In one case, Rim carried out a so-called ransomware attack against a hospital in Kansas in May 2021. The hospital's files and servers were encrypted, and they paid the equivalent of over a million kroner to regain access to them.
Rim has lived in North Korea and worked for the military intelligence service.

The UN fears that 500 may have died in landslides in Ethiopia
The death toll after two landslides in Ethiopia earlier this week has risen to 257, writes Reuters. According to UN figures, as many as 500 people may have died.
The first landslide occurred on the night of Monday. A second landslide hit people who had gathered to participate in the rescue work on Monday.
